 TUZA
is an extraordinary master drummer from Accra who
has taught traditional drumming at the Kusun School of Cultural
Music. He has an extensive knowledge of cultural drumming and playing for
dancers, and in 1979 and 1989
won the Best Inter-region Drummer Award.
It is impossible not to sense the intense passion he feels
for his craft as you watch his powerful display of percussion at its finest. Tuza
has toured with his other groups
Suorloi and Salamta,
and is founder and musical director of Noko Yedze,
a community cultural group that supports the talents of the youths of Nungua.
He also toured Australia in 2000 as lead drummer with The
Kusun Ensemble, and again with Wala in 2001, and 2002-2003, performing
and teaching traditional drumming classes. |
